Coverage of Obama signing the Ledbetter Bill. He introduces Mrs.Ledbetter, and thanks her for her determination. He also explains that wage equality is not just a women’s issue, but a family issue, and that “making our economy work means making it work for everyone”.There is also the personal motive for him: by signing the bill ,he is respecting his grandmother’s efforts, and working to provide equal opportunities for his daughters.

Title:”President Obama Signs Ledbetter Bill-Restored Law Marks Key Moment For Civil Rights”
Publication Information:Originally found on the National Women’s Law Center, then directed to CNN coverage via Youtube. The footage was shot at the capital, and posted to the web pretty much immediately through various sources. There is no information as to actual reporters covering the story.

Support:The sources in the speech are Lilly Ledbetter, where we get a firsthand account of her struggle. She definitely adds reality and credibility to the issue. Also present are women lawmakers who are obviously overjoyed at the event. Senator Barbara Mukulski,a Democrat from Maryland, is pumping Obama’s arm vigorously.
Source Analysis:CNN is a news provider, its audience is the general public, perhaps more sensationalists who prefer to watch news happening to reading about it, so as to pick up on the subtleties of action. I actually went back through Youtube to find the footage of the speech and the actual signing, instead of the shortened version. The video was viewed 44,119 times, and has a five-star rating. The CNN.com version was not the entire story, and I was forced to watch an Exxon advertisement before the actual clip.
Usefulness:This footage is very useful in answering my question.I have seen the bill signed, and witnessed the respect and dignity that Obama has restored to the women surrounding him.He makes it very clear that women are entitled to the same as men,and that pay disparity is “simple and plain discrimination.”
