Support:When I accessed the artists personal website, the poster was not on it,and I could find no information as to whether or not the work was commissioned. The original Rosie the Riveter poster campaign was during WW2, and served as a motivation for women to get to the factories and make the equipment the”boys” needed to win the war.
Source Analysis:It is unclear whether the artwork was commissioned by the Obama campaign, or an offering from the artist. Therefore, I do not know who paid for the work, and I do not recall seeing the image during the campaign. The targeted audience is women interested in pay equality.
Usefulness:I like this image. The original was already strong, and is iconic, but the redo was a campaign statement that all women can easily identify with.
