Support: Dr. Janet Conney, former UCLA professor, Catherine Hill, spokesperson for the AAUW, IT Recruiter Nate Viall.
Source Analysis: The series ran on MSNBC online, and I was forced to watch a pregnancy test advertisement before I could watch the video. The online news source is obviously funded by advertisers, and this particular piece targeting women viewers.
Usefulness:This is a very useful instance of a woman performing the exact same job as a man and getting paid a fraction of the wage. There were no other factors involved such as her leaving work for family. She sued UCLA and won two million dollars, but now is not able to find work because of the publicity. There is a thin counter-arguement made by Nate Viall, an IT Recruiter, who states “there is no gender pay gap” and there is a subsequent video of an interview with him.
