Title: Women Have Come a Long Way, the Family Picture is Less Bright

Publication Information: The Washington Post, in Washington,DC. The article was published on February 15,2009, page B03.

Accessed: March 1,2009

Support:Sociologists asserting there is more like marrying like recently;Henry Ford, who paid his workers a five dollar a week family wage, and would not allow his employees spouses to work.

Source Analysis: The Washington Post is a highly esteemed publication, and the online component reaches over twelve million adults in an average month. The Washington Post also owns Slate Media.

Usefulness:This article is fairly useful, as it brings a new way of looking at women’s pay issues, from a widening pay gap among families. I think I will bring Henry Ford’s family wage into my presentation. It is an interesting contrast from today, becauseĀ  the men’s spouses were not even permitted to work, and if there were women workers, unmarried of course, they were not entitled to a family wage.
